Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ are the latest flagship phone from Samsung which was revealed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on 25 February 2018. They are the successors to the S8 and S8+ which performed well in the market. In this article, we will see what are main features and specification of Samsung Galaxy S9 and what is my opinion about it.
Samsung’s Galaxy series is a very famous mobile series and since its first launch, it has come a long way. I still remember how happy I was while using my Samsung Galaxy S2 phone a few years back. Now, first of all, let see what are the specification of Galaxy S9 smartphone.
Key Features & Specifications of Samsung Galaxy S9
Android 8.0 (Oreo) Operating System.
5.8 inches super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors.
Resoulution: 1440 x 2960 pixels, 18.5:9 ratio (~570 ppi density).
Dimensions: 147.7 x 68.7 x 8.5 mm.
8MP AF front camera and 12MP rear camera with face detection.
4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory.
Octa-core processor (4×2.7 GHz Mongoose M3 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55).
Iris scanner, fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, heart rate, SpO2.
Non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery.
First thing first, Samsung Galaxy S9 comes with Android 8.0 (Oreo) operating system and has Octa-core processor with Exynos 9810 Octa chipset for EMEA region and Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 for USA and China. The GPU in Galaxy S9 is Mali-G72 MP18 for EMEA and Adreno 630 for USA & China. Don’t know why Samsung has decided to go with different chipset and GPU depending upon the region. The Samsung Galaxy S9 comes with 4 GB of RAM and storage options of 64, 128 and 256 GB, and has a microSD card slot expandable upto 400 GB. In dual-SIM model, you get one Nano SIM slot and one Nano SIM or one MicroSD slot. So buy your Samsung Galaxy S9 carefully as per your requirement.
Galaxy S9 has 5.8″ Quad HD+ Super AMOLED (2960×1440) 570 PPI display. The display screen is almost bezel-less, full-frontal and edge-to-edge with Full HD+ default resolution which can be also changed.
If we talk about the camera, I am always Fan of Samsung phone cameras. They truly are what they say. S9 has SuperSpeed Dual Pixel 12MP AF rear camera and 8MP AF front camera with F1.7 aperture. Its rear camera has digital zoom up to 8x and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for perfect pictures. One of the notable new features is AR Emoji by which you can turn your selfie into an AR Emoji. Isn’t that COOL.
Super Slow motion capture (960 fps) and Dual Aperture camera are one of the most talked features of this phone.
If we talk about the battery life of Samsung Galaxy S9, then it has 3000mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery which can last upto 22 hours of Talk time under ideal condition. Though, I am really little disappointed with the battery of S9, because the phone is a full HD and has bezel-less screen, so its battery consumption will be high. If you are looking for more battery life go for Samsung Galaxy S9+ which has 3500mAh battery.
Though the good news is that both Samsung Galaxy S9 & S9+ has fast Charging on both wired and wireless charging devices. Wireless charging is also compatible with WPC and PMA.
If we talk about the connectivity option in Samsung Galaxy S9, it has Wifi, hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS, NFS, dual SIM slot, 3G/4G capability. So it has all the connectivity option for you.
Price of Samsung Galaxy S9
The international price of Galaxy S9 is $719.99 USD and for S9+ is $839.99 USD. In India, S9 is around Rs.57,900 for 64GB storage and Rs.65,900 for 256GB of storage.
Currently, it is available for pre-order and shipping will start from 14th of March 2018. This phone was earlier available at Flipkart for pre-order, but now they have removed it from their listing.

In my point of view, Samsung has done really an awesome job in Galaxy S9 and I really likes its AR emoji and slow-motion feature. But, it could have been more amazing if Samsung had included the front camera of around 12MP and rear camera of 16MP at this high price range as we are already having such phones available in the market which are very cheap in comparison to Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+.
